Challenge
MDS, Inc., an asset-based logistics provider, has a fleet of 268 trucks and 510 trailers that service the contiguous United States and Canada. They wanted to extend their oil drain intervals so they could control costs for maintenance and repairs and keep their trucks on the road for longer. CITGO Lubricants specialists proposed upgrading to a premium synthetic blend engine oil. This oil is engineered with proprietary additive technology that protects engines running at higher operating temperatures and fuel injection pressures while meeting tighter wear limits and lower emission requirements.
Solution
CITGO Lubricants Specialists recommended CITGO® CITGARD® 700 Synthetic Blend Heavy Duty Engine Oil SAE 10W-30 to enhance their maintenance capabilities. This heavy-duty engine oil delivers the performance needed for newer engine designs while improving performance in older engines. The SAE 10W-30 viscosity grade assists in attaining the new Phase II fuel efficiency standards by improving fuel grade economy, increasing cold start-up lubrication and providing superior engine durability.

Due to their experience with CITGARD and Mystik® Lubricants, MDS, Inc. felt comfortable extending their oil drain interval to their desired goal of 75,000 miles on the next group of trucks coming in this year. They even confirmed this decision with Cummins, who approved the CITGARD oil and their oil drain interval goal for their fleets.
