Challenge
Frattalone Companies, Inc., a civil construction company that services clients across the Midwest, operates a fleet of over 300 pieces of heavy-duty equipment and wants to reduce their downtime and consumption to help increase productivity. The CITGO Lubricants team, along with Kath Fuel Oil and Service, suggested running a low-viscosity heavy-duty engine oil to reduce soot levels and oil consumption.
Solutions
The CITGO Lubricants experts analyzed Frattalone's current oil in the lab for compatibility and performance and advised them to switch to CITGO® CITGARD® 700 Synthetic Blend Heavy Duty Engine Oil 10W-30. The heavy-duty engine oil improves fuel economy, increases cold start-up lubrication and provides superior engine durability.
Outcome
The initial testing of CITGARD heavy-duty engine oil showed significant improvements in oxidation and soot in their heavy-duty equipment and no major change in oil consumption.
After running it through a couple of service intervals, Frattalone decided to implement CITGARD heavy-duty engine oil throughout their fleet.
